North Kiaka Mine Proposal

SIMCOA is proposing to establish a new quartzite mine referred to as the North Kiaka Mine immediately north of Moora Mine. The Mine will be an open cut operation and is expected to generate up to 130 000 tpa of lump quartz for downstream processing at the Kemerton Silicon Smelter.

SIMCOA has prepared the Environmental Review Document in accordance with EPA procedures and this document is released for public review. The Environmental Review Document describes the Proposal, the likely environmental impacts and the proposed management measures.

 

Public comment on the Proposal can be made between the 10th and 24th of April 2024.  The EPA prefers submissions to be made electronically via the EPA’s Consultation Hub at  https://consultation.epa.wa.gov.au
